Renuka Jayasinghe

Renuka Jayasinghe is a talented multi-instrumentalist, educator, and bandleader, whose musical journey began at the age of 9. Starting with the alto saxophone, she later took on the flute,  clarinet, voice, and piano during her grade school years. 

Later, Renuka went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin to study Jazz Performance at the renowned Butler School of Music. After college, she became a professional saxophonist for numerous bands in Austin, such as Wild Child, Sir Woman, and Tomar and the FCs. She has her own self titled band called RENU as well. 

Renuka’s passion for music extends beyond the stage as she shares her expertise through teaching. Her diverse performance experience, coupled with a dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians, makes her a sought-after educator. Her teaching style is flexible yet structured, staying attuned with her student’s strengths and helping them overcome their challenges. Her ideal student is motivated to achieve their musical goals and is willing to put in their best effort and to be consistent.
