Tony Miller started playing drums at the age of 4, played his first professional gig at 10 and by the age of 13, was playing almost every weekend around the Dallas Texas music scene.

Tony’s first drum teacher was local Dallas drummer Richard Speer who studied at Berkley. He laid a solid foundation of rudiments and taught Tony to read music. Through the years, Tony was fortunate to study with jazz legend Colin Bailey, LA session master Gregg Bissonette and “Advanced Funk studies” author Rick Latham. After high school, Tony studied under former Woody Herman drummer and famed teacher Paul Guerrero at Richland College. Next, Tony continued his studies at the University of North Texas where he entered on a jazz scholarship.

As a performer, Tony has toured with Grammy nominated Christian music artists Mylon Lefevre, Wayne Watson, Cindy Morgan, and Point of Grace, and has played and recorded with many local musicians and artists in Dallas, Nashville, and Austin recording studios. He also operates his own home studio, “The Austin Drum Lab’, for recording drum tracks for producers around the world. 

As a drum teacher, Tony is a proud member of the Professional Drum Teachers Guild of America and the Percussive Arts Society. He teaches all levels and styles and brings his years of professional teaching and playing experience to every student. Tony believes that “one size does not fit all” when teaching. He understands that each student has a different learning style and finds the best approach to help them reach their goals. Aside from drumming Tony is a published songwriter for Vineyard and Integrity music and worship pastor at the Austin Vineyard Church. He also conducts seminars and workshops for church worship teams and songwriters.
